Biblical forensics

The story is hard to read once. I have read it repeatedly, always flinching, always wanting to flip to the new testament.
I want to argue semantics with the writer. Then i realize the writer is reflecting truth in small words, small deadly twists of meaning

Tamar is his sister. He hurts his own sister.
